yep - we are prisoners of harry potter, willing prisoners, just to clarify. we started reading together during the thanksgiving break and have just finished the third book. this one was excellent, as much as i have enjoyed them all, this one is, by far, my favorite. (perhaps i'll say that after the next one, and the next, etc.) the story line, the action, all the great little details were woven together in an interesting and exciting way. there were fun surprises and tender moments that added even more enjoyment to this delightful read.
and, much to my surprise, i actually started crying as i read the last few pages to my children, caught me totally off guard. as harry talks to dumbledore ... there are usually some tidbits of wisdom for us to take away at the end, but this one was much more personal. they were talking about harry wondering if he saw his father.
"It was stupid, thinking it was him, " he muttered. "I mean, I knew he was dead."
"You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don't recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble? Your father is alive in you, Harry, and shows himself most plainly when you have need of him..."
It took a moment for Harry to realize what Dumbledore had said.
anyhow, who knew i would ever see a bit of myself in little old harry potter?
good book, indeed!
