so long shaggies

the boys were starting to look like ... well ... how do i say this? ummmmm - how about just  some long-haired boys? now, the king has to maintain a longer style, as i have outlawed buzzes on him for the next year. and the boy has only ever worn buzzes and to our surprise, has been rockin' this longer style. so, i sent them into our hair lady to trim them up so that they would look like boys ... er, i mean, like the cute boys they are!

definitely better! and the king is really rockin' the beiber look - i've started calling him baby beiber - even though he hardly qualifies for "baby" anything anymore. but i love the alliteration ... and he was free at disneyland and seaworld! so, i can kind of get away with it ... for now, at least.

leg-go my legos

he is a bit of a lego enthusiast ...

perhaps leaning toward the completely obsessed side of things ...

so, this stash of harry potter legos at grandma and grandpa's was a gold mine ...

two days later, that is still all he is talking about ...

as much as i love legos, i'm starting to lose my mind, but then he flashes those big eyes and dimples my way and it's all good!

night of arts

the school's night of arts finally arrived and we got to head over there to see how the kids did ... i can sum it up pretty easily ...

they did awesome!

thing 1 received a 1st place medal for a poem she wrote

and a second place ribbon for the photo she entered

thing 2 won a first place ribbon for her photo

and another first place for her watercolor painting

and she also snagged a second place ribbon for her scrapbook page (funny enough, she lost to a boy)

and the boy's photo of our beloved dog earned him a first place ribbon as well - way to go buddy

my funny valentine

i might not have snapped photos of our valentines, but here are the kids with their boxes full of valentines and their faces full of smiles.

nothing says i love you like candy ... right?

budding photogs

the kids have an art/literature/music/talent night of arts coming up at their school. they entered a few different forms of art (painting, poetry, scrapbooking), but they all wanted to put together a photography entry and this is what they came up with:

thing 2 captured the sunrise

thing 1 wanted a close-up of one of our shrubs

and the boy caught our dog in licking action. i think they all did pretty good ... and i didn't have a heart attack when i handed my camera over to them!

following in his sisters' footsteps

the boy is constantly watching his sisters work on school projects. so when he won a special show-and-tell chance, he made his own "book report". he came up with the whole idea and everything, i just painted the box red and helped hang the spaceship that is flying. he was super pleased with the results.

out with the old, in with the ... loud?

some men look to the future and see their children forming a sports team, but not bert, no ... he sees a rock band. so when he came home with this drum set, i can't say that i was surprised. we moved out the king's bed that he doesn't use and made room for the drums. i'd say we are off to a boomin' start!
