they aren't really sure about this "ringing in the new year" thing. no one else on our street was out banging pots and pans - i think they felt a little guilty about it all! anyhow - i talked them into it and they made some noise for about 20 good seconds! then it was back into our warm home for some sparkling cider and a skype call to the cousins (that lasted over an hour)!!!
